Is it worth the effort renovating?

Completely agree with this. Spending a little time and elbow grease can make a big investment in your pocketbook.

Quite often you will hear about the importance of home renovations and how they will affect the sale of your home. Two things that some people assume is 1) renovating is a “must” and 2) any reno will increase the value of your home. Not true.

I love to stage properties, and I firmly believe that a little staging goes a long way, right into the pocket book of the seller. Real estate staging can be as capacious as renovating, painting and renting furniture, or it can be as simple as giving the place a good cleaning.

 Often times people go ahead and renovate without having consulted a knowledgeable realtor first. I’ve walked in to homes where a substantial investment of money and time has gone into a kitchen, yet the rest of the house was very dated and unattractive. New USC Coach Enfield Reduces Home Price

Now that he has been hired at USC, former Florida Gulf Coast’s head coach Andy Enfield (and belle of the ball at this year’s NCAA tourney) has reduced his asking price for his Florida home. Now listed at $675,000, the asking price is a full $50,000 less than Enfield paid for it when he purchased it in 2011. It boasts over 3400 square feet, 4 bedrooms, 4 full baths, hand-carved wood floors and a pool/spa area.
